Our program is run through FRC (First Robotics Competition) which is an international competition run by FIRST yearly. Every year FIRST comes out with a new game in which teams compete to develop skills such as creative problem-solving, sportsmanship, and a plethora of technical skills. These skills used in building a robot help serve students on the job in the future.
The Build Season is the six weeks that are allowed by the FRC program to build the robot where we operate with the whole team on a strict attendance policy. The Build Season starts at kickoff in early January. In this time period, we will strategize and prototype in order to create the best product, leaving some time to practice for the competition stage. Check out the Events section to see what is coming up for the team.
Technologically Inclined Group of Engineering Robotics Students
About the Team
The Ipswich TIGERS is team number 5459 in the FIRST Robotics Competition and is based out of Ipswich High School in Ipswich, MA. We have an organizational structure that outlines five major departments - mechanical, electrical, programming, strategy, and business. These departments are overseen and guided by several mentors, but in order to remain student-run, we instruct mentors to remain as hands-off as possible.
Our Mission Statement
We are a unique and diverse group of young engineers striving to become the next generation of leaders through cooperation and problem-solving.
