Last summer, the Salinity Project Team, mentored by Chris Reif, designed and created manual water testing kits. This summer, the team began work on a new project: an automated water testing device designed to take measurements in Plum Island Sound. Once completed, the system and supporting raft will be launched and anchored in the bay. In addition to programming the software and designing/constructing the device and its outer housing, this year's team took part in several measuring trips to take manual temperature, pH and salinity readings. The device is slated to be completed and launched by next summer.
